Rogue Life
"When life gives you lemons, pick better cards".
(Game is explained further down)
The Future?
I'd like to add more cards, fix some bugs, and balance the whole game overall a bit more; but the deadline is approaching so here you go for now. Let me know what you think, what you'd like to see added or changed; or something completely different. There's a lot of things to be done, but for now; it's at least playable.
-Hope you enjoy ;)
The Odd Bean / Junk Daye is one person.
Disclaimer: Everything (sounds, music, graphics, programming) has been done by me; while the game jam has been running, with the exception of one online asset script for RNG "Object Randomizer" related to calculating '% chance of....' and the font (I can barely write letters on a piece of paper).
Mechanics explained:
* Clicking a card will make you accept what's underneath ----ACCEPT----.
* Rolling the dice will allow you to potentially get past a bad card, unless the dice fails (in which case you get punished with the ----DICE FAIL---- section
* Remember to press work to earn money.
* If you're wondering why you suddenly died w. full health, it's because there's a set year that you die. (In the future I'd like to add life extensions or custom modes)
* Proficiency cards are cards like "The Musician" / "The Business Man". Cards that could be considered almost jobs I guess. (Will change some part of that in the future)
Known bugs:
-Currently the "happiness" bar does absolutely nothing.
-Some cards may not work as intended.
-Ending screen may show incorrect data (the goal for reach death year might be bugged).
-Character select can be a bit glitchy.

i did not do very well in this game but that doesnt take away from how smooth the gameplay felt. I enjoyed playing it.
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it! I will try to find a way to explain better how the mechanics work in the future.
Yea that was all i really missed personally. but not so much that it made the game not fun. If you choose to expand the game out later after the jam, Id definitely play it again. It was clean.
In character select. The hitbox of the character, when you mouse over it, at the very last pixel overlaps with the surrounding area. Making the character highlight flicker like a light show when you put the mouse there. Gives me Roll20 flashbacks (they had that literally everywhere back in the day). And no I wasn't even looking for it. My mouse just happened to be on that exact pixel when I loaded into the game.
Thank you for the feedback, I'm adding it to known bugs now, and will fix in the future. :D
